Jake Newell has had a passion for art from an early age. The opportunity to grow up and live in Emporia, Kansas has provided ample opportunity for Jake to pursue this passion. After taking several art courses in high school, he decided to pursue art as a career at Emporia State University. It was here that he was introduced to the art of hand engraving in the fall of 2006. After taking the Engraving I and Engraving II courses offered through Emporia State, he has been fortunate to continue his study of engraving through several courses at the GRS Training Center and under the direction of Christian DeCamillis. Jake graduated from Emporia State in May 2009 with a degree in Art Education.
Since then, he has been designing and engraving a variety of items for both William Henry Studio and Montana Watch Company. Jake has been a full-time hand-engraver for over 10 years and enjoys working and traveling in his mobile studio. He is also an instructor and demonstrator for the GRS Training Center.
